Loved Ones
Nina: My best-est friend since kindergarten. Apparently we met when I bit her on the playground. I don’t remember that first encounter, but I’m glad I dug my teeth into her. This girl has been by my side ever since, and I couldn’t ask for a better, more caring friend in the entire world. I love you Nina-Bean.
Momma: The toughest woman in the entire world. No… really, this lady got in a car crash and broke her collar bone in three places and left for her cruise vacation on the very same day! The lady has been my rock and support system ever since I was first born, and I don’t think I could have ended up with a better mother and role model.
Will: My boyfriend and love of my life. You have got to be the coolest person I have ever met. You make me laugh, you understand me, and while we joke around the vast majority of the time, you also understand when I am being serious and honestly want to talk. I couldn’t ask for a better guy friend, and I honestly feel blessed that I have gotten the chance to get to know you and be close to you. I love you William.
About Eclipsed Moon
I started dabbling in web design when I was in Jr. High (back when GeoCities websites were all the rage and I was into Anime like crazy), I fiddled with HTML on and off, making small image galleries and collecting anime images from around the net to add into my horrible makeshift websites. Needless to say the internet was a very different beast back then. Table layouts were all the rage, heavily encoded images that took forever to download and show properly, text had to be measured and cut in order to display properly without wrecking a painstakingly devised layout. I remember being partial to IFrame based layouts, and made several cute ones back then.
Freehostia was the name of the game for me back then, and I had a tiny website devoted to just me, designed around the Harvest Witch from the Harvest Moon video games. I fiddled with code during my spare time, making websites for friends and googling silly website hax to make things look odd. CSS was a new beast to tackle, and I found it a lot of fun to play with.
I had always wanted to purchase my own Domain. It wasn’t until 2007 that my dream was finally realized and I purchased eclipsedmoon.net from GoDaddy, and bought their cheapest web hosting to go along with it. I started blogging (well ‘start’ is a relative term, I had used livejournal in the past.)
I started my website with a heavily modified version of Arcsin’s Beautiful Day website template. Turning it into something silly involving cupcakes and stripes. I enjoyed it heavily, and eventually used his WordPress template to do the exact same thing, and that is how I originally started blogging.
I found that I enjoyed moving through themes like some people change their sweaters, I was always looking for a different mood, or feel for my website, but for whatever reason I found designing WordPress layouts to be odd, difficult, and somewhat unnerving. I generally preferred to purchase a theme, and then heavily modify it. It sounds silly I know, but I found it easier to modify an existing theme than start from scratch.
I eventually settled on a theme by Elegant Themes called The Professional.
While I liked Elegant Themes’ designs, their code was always a little… thick. Everything took forever to load. I enjoyed all the shortcodes that they offered, and they were fun layouts to play around with, but in the end I wasn’t satisfied, and I switched to the current layout of Eclipsed Moon.
In December of 2011, I decided that I had enough of GoDaddy. (Not only due to their involvement in SOPA but also because they over-book their serverspace). I made the move to FatCow web hosting. Will Eclipsed Moon be here to stay? Nobody knows, but I do enjoy the increased speed of their servers. (And the cheapness of their unlimited hosting 100% wind powered servers doesn’t hurt either!)
